Open Call for projects which support of Habitat and Housing

“Housing at the Center of the New Urban Agenda” seeks to shift the focus from simply building houses to a holistic framework for the comprehensive development of housing and habitat, based on urban planning and geared towards people and human rights, to promote sustainable urban development. At the local level, the goal is to integrate the concept of housing and habitat into National Urban, Territorial and Land Policies and strategic rationale of planned urbanization.

The objective of this Open Call is to identify, document, disseminate and exchange projects that promote adequate housing and habitat as the drivers of sustainable urban development in Latin America and the Caribbean, within the framework of the New Urban Agenda.

The Urban Housing Practitioners Hub is a regional knowledge management platform focused on practices addressing housing and sustainable urban development and for the first time has an open call entitled: Inspiring Practices Open-Call: Housing at the Centre of the New Urban Agenda.

 The objective of this Open Call is to identify, document, disseminate and exchange projects that promote adequate housing and habitat as the drivers of sustainable urban development in Latin America and the Caribbean, within the framework of the New Urban Agenda.


The open-call is any organization from the public, private, academic and civil society sector, as well as multilateral organisms. Individual applications can also be submitted supported by partners from the mentioned sectors.

The selected practices will be recognized regionally as inspiring in promoting the “Housing at the Centre of the New Urban Agenda” concept and receive a scholarship to participate in the debates, exhibition and publication of the III Latin America and Caribbean Forum on Housing and Habitat in the Dominican Republic, June 2018. In addition, they will be part of the UHPH’s database.
