Dr Armstrong has a Master’s in Planning from Columbia University, NY and a Ph.D from the University of Nairobi. He was a senior technical advisor at UN Habitat until his retirement and managed their Caribbean programme. At present he is the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Society of Planners and is the former Vice-president of the Commonwealth Association of Planners (Representing the Americas Region)

TTSP The Trinidad and Tobago Society of Planners (TTSP) is a non-profit organization which was incorporated by an act of parliament in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2004.

The TTSP is an advocate of sustainable development and transparency in all matters pertaining to urban planning. The TTSP is a member of the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) with the TTSP’s current president; Dr. James Armstong, being the Vice President for the CAP in the Americas.
